Baroni Makes Donation to Japanese Tsunami Relief

All of us at Baroni are so excited at the success of our Healing Pendant designed by Sarah Baroni to help raise funds for the Japanese Tsunami Relief.

Baroni has made a donation of $7,846 to Direct Relief International from proceeds from the sale of the Healing Pendants. We came close to our goal of $10,000! Direct Relief has donated over $2.4 million so far towards the tsunami relief.

Quiet sacredness found in India

The elephant, a sacred animal in India, almost always brightly decorated.

India. it is often said there is no place like it and I find that indisputable. Each day brings new adventures and sights– walks in the crowded marketplace, Indian wedding processions, elephants, camels and cows on the streets.

I wrote this journal entry by candlelight on a cool, Indian night while traveling recently to Jaipur, India. The stars were bright and I sipped on sweet masala tea, listening to blaring horns in the distance, fireworks, wedding music and peacock cries. Smells of curry, mint, and flowers filled me with a sense of peace I hadn’t yet found in this shockingly loud, crowded city.

Amidst the cacophony of noise, the barrage of smells, and explosive colors, there is a quiet sacredness to this very special place. Ganesh graces every doorway and sweet incense fills the air of every home and shop.

Mostly what I came to love in India was the gentleness of the people, the sacredness that prevails, the folded hands and bowed heads and the namaste greetings. The light in me bows to the light in you. Can it get more beautiful than an entire nation greeting each other in such a way? The adornments…an endless inspiration. Jewel tone colors grace every Indian woman, impossible hues of emerald, magenta, yellow, orange, ambers. Every woman, rich or poor, was graced with an assortment of toe rings, ankle cuffs in tribal patterns, gold big necklaces and bangles, bangles in every color piled up their arms. They looked so beautiful, the colors sparkling against their rich skin, their eyes bright behind their scarves, I could hardly look away.

India is a place where the heart opens, the senses embrace and life is rich and so colorful. I was so grateful to be home for the holidays but someday, I look forward to returning for more.

Baroni made its first ever appearance on the catwalk of LA Fashion Week recently. Baroni partnered with Arcata based company teeki, a designer that makes bikinis out of recycled plastic bottles. Fifteen teeki models were adorned with Baroni sterling silver and gold pieces. The model pictured here is wearing gold bangles from the Baroni Santosha collection. Baroni's favorite looks include layering pieces from the Chandra, Santosha and Gypsy girl collections.

Finding Inspiration in Colorado

It is always an honor to be featured in a magazine whose message we support so strongly. Last month we were featured in Yoga International. We are leaving next week for the Yoga Journal Conference in Estes Park Colorado where we go to play and to exhibit our jewelry. It is personally my favorite show of the year and though I won’t be able to attend this year, I remember it fondly from years past. It is in the Rockies, which dazzle me every time l visit; each time I arrive it is like seeing them for the first time. It is hard to remember how incredibly beautiful and inspiring a place it is.

It is a week filled with goodness and beauty – quiet early nights, morning meditations, lots of yoga, great food and pampering. It is also a community filled with like spirits in many ways. I often tell my yoga students that we all come to yoga for different reasons, but we eventually find a deeper part of ourselves in the process.

For those of you familiar with baroni, you know that many of our designs are inspired by yoga, eastern traditions, Sanskrit mantras and more. But mostly, our jewelry is inspired by this open place we find in our hearts. It is this place where creativity flows. At each yoga show we feel blessed to be surrounded by this community of like minded people: people with a conscience, people who care about themselves, the earth and others. I truly believe that yoga and it’s ancient teachings, can and will slowly change the world. It is not surprising that here we find ‘our people” more than any other show. Here we find people who truly resonate with our designs.

We are grateful to all the support and love we receive at the yoga conference shows. Our booth is always rockin’, filled with great energy, enthusiasm and delight. It is so inspiring for us. For those of you who are going this year, we invite you to stop by and see us.

Mark August out of Chatham, Massachusetts opened in June of 1992 with the goal of offering a contemporary choice on Main Street.

We especially like the Madison and Santosha Silver collections for their organic shapes, matte finishes and reasonable price points.

We've sold Baroni for 14 years and it is consistently one of our top ten selling jewelry lines.

As women business owners, we have enjoyed working with Sarah and her team over the years, and it is a nice touch that many have a strong tie to Cape Cod.

Fear Not, Be inspired!

Last week Haley left our studio to visit one of our accounts. It is a beautiful store, a home gallery with gorgeous gifts, creative way of displaying their goods, and a store that offers great inspiration for one seeking a piece of jewelry, art, or furniture. They have been a customer of baroni’s for years. However, just this year, they made a conscious decision to go for it with baroni and really elevate our presence in their store.

Together, we worked on a display plan, a trunk show, a fabulous window display and a gorgeous selection of jewelry. It was a big decision for them. It isn’t easy these days to commit to growth with an unstable economy and cautious customers. Yet, these insightful store owners and gallery managers were smart and brave enough to realize that being fearful is the worst thing we can do. Fear paralyzes us, makes us unsure and unclear. The best thing we can do now is to be creative, commit to something. Creativity inspires others. We know the stores who are doing best are those that keep it changing, new merchandise, new displays, and new products. It works. It elevates our moods and those around us. When we feel good, we become clearer.

Not surprisingly, Baroni sales in this store have significantly increased, and the employees and owners are all re-inspired. They are all sporting layered pieces of baroni, stackable rings, bangles, necks in different lengths. We applaud them and the many stores out there who continue to find new ways to inspire and be inspired, who have faced their fears and moved forward despite them. There are glimmers of up swings and opportunity and though it may take a while, we will continue to focus on the good and manifest our inspirations.

The success of our jewelry store is built on more than 80 years of jewelers wisdom. Our family tradition has played key role in our continued success. But our community is just as important to that success.

Skeie’s is located in Eugene Oregon. Home of the University of Oregon, the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Oregon Country Fair. Plaza Design

Plaza Design was created in 1982 to support regional artists, selling their work and exhibiting their crafts. We work closely with furniture makers, as well as local jewelry companies like Baroni.

It is difficult to pick a favorite Baroni collection, they are all so wonderful. We have had great success with the Initials Collection. It's fun to see customers purchase initials to honor family and friends. The initials can also be added to other necklaces, too - especially the Santosha collection. Many customers connect with the spiritual symbols of the Santosha collection and adding an initial makes it even more personal.

We carry an assortment of Baroni, across all the collections. Many customers want to mix and match so we offer many choices, silver and gold, pearls, even pieces for kids.

Family, Inspiration, Sunshine in January

There is nothing like the Caribbean. The lush compilation of islands with white sand and turquoise waters. It slows us down and make us appreciate everything in our lives.

Each year in January, my girls and I meet 23 members of our family at St. Croix on the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is a gift to have a week with the people we love. The week was filled with laughs, long walks and runs, yoga on the beach, making sandcastles and exploring the beautiful island.

My worries shed off my shoulders. I became inspired and creative, reaching a part of my soul that is often difficult to access in daily life. We, of course, talked about jewelry.

We tried out some of my new collections.

I love seeing my pieces on different people. All wear them in their own way, bringing them to life. It makes the pieces uniquely theirs. Everyone shines.

As sad as I was to see the week end and say goodbye to my family and St. Croix friends, I am also happy to come home. I am grateful to live in such a beautiful place and have the ability to visit other inspiring places.
I brought with me lots of pretty shells, hundreds of pictures and, of course, many new design ideas to work with. I found it is important to be inspired by newness.

There is nothing like traveling to do so.

Be inspired by the people you love. Be inspired to be creative. Be inspired to be artistic. Be inspired to be more compassionate. To give back. To soften. To smile more. To react less. The people we love make us more beautiful. Send blessings of love to everyone you know. They’ll feel it. Stop and smile at strangers. We need more peaceful love in our world. We can make the change.

I am blessed to be attending a yoga conference this weekend. It truly fills me up, I leave with fellow yogis feeling radiant and filled with love for the world. I am so thankful for all my friends and family, for Baroni friends and employees. These are the people who form us and make us who we are. So, to past loves and new loves, to our friends and family, blessings and love.
